A great option for fly tiers pushing into heavy cod and barra fly jigs. They’re not subtle, and they’re not meant to be. These are for big flies, big rods and big fish.

The OMTD OJ1200 Big Jig Head is a heavy-duty jig head designed for casting large soft plastics on spin rods, but we’ve selected it for fly tiers wanting to build serious fly jigs for Murray cod and barramundi.

With a strong hook, heavy head and extra attachment point underneath, it gives you a solid foundation for tying big, weighted predator patterns that get down quickly and fish with a strong jigging action.

Key Features

  • Designed for spin fishing with large soft plastics
  • Selected for tying heavy fly jigs for cod and barra

  • Ideal for Murray cod and barramundi fly jig patterns
  • 2 jig heads per pack

Description

The OMTD OJ1200 Big Jig Head is built for throwing large soft plastics at big predators on spin tackle. It’s strong, heavy and designed to handle the sort of pressure that comes with fishing around structure, timber, snags and big fish.

For fly tiers, it’s a very handy crossover component. These jig heads give you the weight and hook strength needed to tie large fly jigs for Murray cod and barramundi, especially when you want a pattern that sinks quickly, tracks well and can be worked through deeper water.

The lower attachment eye also gives you the option to add a stinger hook, assist hook or blade, depending on how you want to build the fly.

These aren’t traditional fly tying hooks, but for big cod and barra jig flies, they make a lot of sense.
